Albion Middle School Art 2
Information
Course Description:
Foundations II is a more advanced level art course, which follows the same principles as foundations I. This class has been designed to increase your skills and knowledge in art. We will be doing a variety of projects in this class. The goal is for us to provide a large variety of design-based assignments to give the students a well-rounded experience.
Supplies:
Students will be responsible for their own drawing pencils (no mechanical pencils), eraser, 12-color pencil set, and a drawing pad. These items can be purchased at any local grocery store. There is a art 1 materials fee that covers all other supplies, tools, and materials. Students need sketchbooks and a pencil each day they come to class. Students may be asked to bring items from home.
Non- Required supplies:
Please bring a large button up shirt from home that can be kept at school to protect clothing. Students may be asked to bring items from home.
Grading:
Your academic grade will be based on:
1. Completed assignments
2. Practice assignments = 50%
3. Final assignments = 30%
4. Class participation = 20%
Citizenship: Citizenship grades are based on school wide standards: following directions, arriving to class on time, being respectful toward the teacher and other students, not using cellphones and iPods, following the standards of the school dress code, and so on. Rules will be discussed and displayed to avoid any misunderstandings. In addition, art is very messy…IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY THAT WE WORK TOGETHER AS A CLASS TO MAKE SURE THE ROOM IS CLEAN BEFORE THE END OF CLASS.
Make-Up Work for Absence: A student will be given the opportunity to make up work missed. It is the responsibility of the student to request and complete any assignments or tests missed because of absence.
Truancy: Make up work for truancies will be accepted for no credit.
Late Work: students must turn in all assigned work. Late work must be completed and handed in within one week of the end of the quarter. Late work will be allowed to be turned in without penalty
*Any assignment can be fixed or redone for a higher grade before the final due date. However, if it has to be turned in more than once there must be a significant improvement for a grade change
